Position Summary

At Yellowstone Boys & Girls Ranch, Program Therapists are integral members of the interdisciplinary care team, providing evidence-based interventions to support the mental health and well-being of youth facing emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric challenges. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, engaging with families, and ensuring compliance with external requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual, group, and family therapy in school, community, and home settings.
  • Mentally assesses youth and documents services provided.
  • Encourages and engages parents/guardians/caregivers in interactions.
  • Engages in crisis intervention while maintaining staff and youth safety.
  • Completes and verifies clinical documentation according to quality standards.
  • Maintains and enhances clinical skills through peer supervision and consultations.
  • Collaborates with treatment teams, schools, and community agencies.
  • Maintains knowledge of Montana Medicaid and YBGR's Mental Health Center Licensure rules.

Qualifications

  • Age 21 or older
  • Criminal/Child Abuse Clearance: Required (State of Montana)
  • Education: Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field from an accredited university (60 credit hour program)
  • Professional License: Current Montana SWLC, PCLC, MFLC, LCSW, PCLC, MLFT
  • Licenses to operate a passenger vehicle

Required Abilities/Skills

  • Relate and build rapport with youth and families therapeutically
  • Work collaboratively with treatment team
  • Adhere to ethical codes including The Child and Youth Worker Code of Ethics, National Association of Social Worker Code, and American Psychological Association Code
  • Maintain and enhance clinical skills
  • Understand and maintain professional therapeutic boundaries and confidentiality
  • Knowledge of behavior modification and age-appropriate youth development
  • Good computer skills and ability to learn new software solutions
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, and forward-thinking
