Program Therapist - Outpatient

Position Summary

At Yellowstone Boys & Girls Ranch, Program Therapists are integral members of the interdisciplinary care team, providing evidence-based interventions to support the mental health and well-being of youth facing emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric challenges. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, engaging with families, and ensuring compliance with external requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual, group, and family therapy sessions in school, community, and home settings.
• Mentally assess youth and provide therapeutic interventions.
• Engage and encourage parent/guardian/caregiver interactions.
• Work with different funding agencies and comply with external contract requirements and guidelines.
• Complete, submit, and verify the accuracy of paperwork related to services provided.
• Communicate regularly with treatment team members and stakeholders through meetings and consultations.
• Participate in peer supervision and advocate for youth with schools and attend CST/IEP meetings as needed.
• Coordinate services with community agencies and cooperate with other providers to meet youth needs.
• Maintain a working knowledge of Montana Medicaid and YBGR's Mental Health Center Licensure rules and regulations.

Qualifications

• Age 21 or older
• Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance: Must pass required background checks.
• Education: Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a similar field from an accredited university (60 credit hour program).
• Licenses: Program Therapist 1 - Current Montana SWLC, PCLC, or MFLC; Program Therapist 2 - Current Montana LCSW, PCLC, or MFLT.
• Licenses to operate a passenger vehicle.

• Ability to relate and build rapport with youth and families therapeutically.
• Collaboration and cooperation with the treatment team.
• Adherence to ethical codes including The Child and Youth Worker Code of Ethics, The National Association of Social Worker Code, and The American Psychological Association Code.
• Knowledge of behavior modification and age-appropriate youth development.
• Good computer skills and ability to quickly learn and use YBGR selected software solutions.
• Good judgment and decision-making skills.
