Position Summary
At Yellowstone Boys & Girls Ranch, Program Therapists are integral members of the interdisciplinary care team, providing evidence-based interventions to support the mental health and well-being of youth facing emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric challenges. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, engaging with families, and ensuring compliance with external requirements.
Daily And Monthly Responsibilities
- Provides individual, group, and family therapy in various settings.
- Mentally assesses youth and documents services provided.
- Engages parents/guardians/caregivers in therapeutic activities.
- Works with youth and families in person and via telehealth.
- Intervenes in crises while maintaining staff and youth safety.
- Completes and verifies clinical documentation according to standards.
- Maintains positive relationships with treatment team members and stakeholders.
- Attends and participates in treatment team and staff meetings.
- Engages in peer supervision and consults with schools and CST/IEP meetings.
- Coordinates services with community agencies and collaborates with other providers.
- Maintains knowledge of Montana Medicaid and YBGR's Mental Health Center Licensure rules and regulations.
Qualifications
- Age 21 or older
- Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance: Required (State of Montana)
- Education: Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or similar field from an accredited university (60 Credit Hour Program)
- Professional License: Program Therapist 1 - Current Montana SWLC, PCLC, or MFLC; Program Therapist 2 - Current Montana LCSW, LCPC, or MLFT
- Licenses to operate a passenger vehicle
Required Abilities/Skills
- Ability to relate and build rapport with youth and families therapeutically
- Collaboration and cooperation with the treatment team
- Adherence to ethical codes including The Child and Youth Worker Code of Ethics, The National Association of Social Worker Code, and The American Psychological Association Code
- Knowledge of behavior modification and age-appropriate youth development
- Good computer skills and ability to quickly learn new software solutions
- Good judgment and decision-making skills
- Self-motivation, self-discipline, and diligence
- Team-oriented mindset and ability to think collectively
