Program Student Advisor (CS26-243)

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) seeks a Program Student Advisor to contribute to its mission of advancing social and economic mobility and shaping the future workforce through comprehensive education and hands-on research opportunities.

About the role

This position will serve on a team developing and implementing international student recruitment strategies, including long-term market cultivation and relationship-building with global partners. The role supports both undergraduate and graduate academic departments in creating and executing customized recruitment programs for diverse international student populations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement direct recruitment communications and integrated marketing efforts worldwide.
• Build relationships with feeder institutions through campus visits and establish partnerships for graduate pathways at SIUE.
• Collaborate with international recruitment agencies to build brand awareness and assist prospective students.
• Work with International Student and Scholar Services and the admissions office to support visa acquisition, yield, and retention efforts.
• Travel internationally in support of the recruitment plan.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience in higher education student recruitment, admissions, student services, international student services, academic advising, international education, or English language training.
• Master’s degree in any field plus 1 year of experience in one of the above areas may substitute for the bachelor’s degree requirement.
• Ability to secure a passport and travel internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with international students or in an international setting.
• Knowledge of U.S. immigration regulations relating to student visas.
• Experience with Slate CRM or marketing and communication platforms.

Supplemental Information

This is a Civil Service position classified under the State Universities Civil Service System. Out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 days of hire, requiring a valid Illinois Driver’s License or state ID. Veterans who qualify for preference must provide proof of eligibility within ten working days of application.
