Program Specialist Enrichment (Program focus area is Chess instruction)- Dover YMCA Family Location

Essential Responsibilities

  • Create a curriculum or activity plan for each program, ensuring it is engaging and age appropriate.
  • Adapt activities based on participant needs, interests, and feedback.
  • Facilitate activities and provide instruction or supervision to participants during sessions.
  • Track and monitor participant progress and feedback to assess the effectiveness of the programs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A high-school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in program development, education, or recreation (1-3 years preferred).
  • Experience working with a variety of age groups (children, teens, adults) is a plus.
  • A strong understanding of chess fundamentals and ability to teach participants of all ages using proper technique and progression.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Multi-lingual skills.
  • Additional qualifications specific to each program (such as certifications or degrees in dance, sports, or education, affiliation with or knowledge of US Chess Federation).

Pay

$16.00 – $21.00 per hour. Final compensation is based on factors such as the skills, qualifications, and experience.

Schedule

The schedule is flexible and can vary based on the specific program and participant needs.

Skills

Strong understanding of chess fundamentals, ability to teach chess rules, piece movement, basic strategy and tactics in a fun, age-appropriate manner.
