About the role

A Dance Program Specialist at the YMCA is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing dance programs for various age groups and skill levels. This role involves developing dance curricula, instructing students, and creating a positive, inclusive, and motivating learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement dance programs catering to a wide range of ages and skill levels.
  • Create dance curricula and lesson plans, incorporating different dance styles such as ballet, jazz, hip-hop, modern, and contemporary.
  • Continuously update and adapt programs to include new trends, techniques, and best practices in dance education.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to serve a diverse community.
  • Previous experience as a dance instructor or performer (2-3 years preferred).
  • Experience teaching various styles of dance (e.g., ballet, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary).
  • Strong understanding of dance techniques, choreography, and performance practices.
  • Familiarity with dance theory, safety protocols, and injury prevention.

Qualifications

  • Multi-lingual skills.
  • Additional qualifications specific to each program (such as certifications or degrees in dance, sports, or education).
