Program Specialist - College of Integrated Studies - UWW Rock County Campus

Attention: The College of Integrated Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Rock County Campus seeks a Program Specialist to support bachelor degree completion programs and pathways.

About the Role

The Program Specialist contributes to the development, implementation, administration, coordination, and evaluation of bachelor degree completion programs in the College of Integrated Studies. These programs include the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS), Partners in Engineering Programs, and the K-9 Teaching Emphasis. The role reports directly to the Director of the Solution Center.

Responsibilities

• Program Coordination
  • Serve as program coordinator for the BAAS Program and assist with coordination of other bachelor’s-level programs (Partners in Engineering, K-9 Teaching Emphasis).
  • Coordinate with academic partners on program needs and enhancements.
  • Develop and execute a recruitment plan for the BAAS and Partners in Engineering Programs.
  • Liaise with technical college and business partners on program improvements.
  • Coordinate program components and evaluate effectiveness for continuous improvement.
  • Work with the College of Education and Professional Studies certifying officer and Director of Clinical Experiences to ensure K-9 Teaching Emphasis licensure requirements are met and documented.
• Academic Advising
  • Advise BAAS students on program planning, course selection, registration, and schedule review.
  • Engage students in decision-making processes and promote responsible academic choices.
  • Refer students to campus resources supporting success and engagement.
  • Counsel students on academic probation, academic alerts, or at risk of not succeeding.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accurate student records in compliance with FERPA.
  • Assist with onboarding new students.
• Department Responsibilities
  • Serve as a member of the Solution Center staff and cross-train on duties.
  • Assist with Student Orientation and Registration days.
  • Participate in student welcome events and other campus activities.
  • Serve on college and university committees.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.
• Key Job Responsibilities
  • Supervise day-to-day activities of academic programs and resolve issues to meet unit goals.
  • Use independent judgment to develop, implement, promote, and evaluate academic programs, initiatives, or events.
  • Identify program needs, contribute to unit workflows, and secure resources for meetings, events, and interviews.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and provide recommendations for improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three years of professional higher education experience in a student-facing or student support role, or a completed Master’s degree (no experience required with a Master’s).
• Legal authorization to work in the United States at the time of hire and throughout employment; UW-Whitewater does not sponsor work visas (e.g., H-1B).

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree (or enrollment in a Master’s degree program).
• Excellent organization, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of EAB Navigate and PeopleSoft.
• Experience with academic advising.
• Experience working with adult students.
• Experience with program management.

Pay

Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary of $50,000.
