Program Specialist

About the role

If selected, you will support Veterinary Services Field Operations by either coordinating national animal health, certification, and disease control efforts, or providing essential administrative support services.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, analyzes and makes recommendations to resolve administrative problems.
  • Provides technical advice to FiOps and is generally responsible for ensuring the implementation of any new travel system(s) is planned and that the system requirements are met.
  • Gives on-the-job training to employees in accordance with established procedures and practices.
  • Participates in special projects, other studies, and work groups, relating to internal operations.
  • Provide guidance and direction with certificates, selections, and onboarding and staffing placement services to Districts/Centers/Units.

Requirements

  • Individuals who were born male after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
  • Background investigation and/or fingerprint check must be satisfactory.
  • Completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.

Qualifications

  • FOR THE GS-07 LEVEL: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-5 grade level) that demonstrates:
    • Using computer software to develop spreadsheets, presentations, graphs, and slides.
    • Utilizing automated data systems to evaluate data for accuracy and correcting data errors.
    • Providing administrative support to manage correspondence flow.
    OR
    • One full year of graduate level education in Business, Business Administration, Business Management, Communications, Management, Organizational Management, Public Administration or other related fields.
    • Superior Academic Achievement: To qualify based on Superior Academic Achievement, you must have completed the requirements for a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution AND meet certain GPA requirements.

Pay

  • First time hires to the federal government normally start at the lowest rate of the salary range for the grade selected.

Schedule

  • Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. Any travel, transportation, and relocation expense associated with reporting for duty will be the responsibility of the selected employee.
