Program Specialist

About the role
As a Program Specialist at our 7th Street Centre, you will work with talented people with disabilities in a creative environment ensuring they feel supported, valued, and engaged in meaningful activities. The Program Specialist also ensures a safe environment in addition to supporting with caregiving responsibilities and supervision support. The ideal candidate would have artistic skills in fine art, music, and dramatic arts. Being calm, patient, self-motivated, highly social, and attentive will be key to success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Participate in and support participants in activities including:
- Acting/Theater games
- Costuming
- Prop building
- Painting and building sets
- Participating in rehearsals, classes, and performances
- Support individuals to reach their potential
- Monitor safety of individuals and the environment
- Support students with personal care as needed
- Help plan events and activities
- Respond to crisis, following guidelines and plans
- Drive students on field trips (must have a valid license, auto insurance, and access to a vehicle)
- Effective communication, including clear writing/documentation
- Offer and accept feedback
- Work with limited to no supervision
Requirements
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Ability to make decisions for the good of the students, program, and team
- Good team-building skills and ability to work well with others
- Must like to have fun!
- Ability to pass a background check through the Department of Justice
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation and car insurance
- Pass a TB skin test

Pay
$18.25 per hour
Schedule
- 32–40 hours per week
- Monday–Friday between 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
- Occasional field trips requiring driving students
