Program Specialist 3 (Financial Aid)
About the role
The Financial Aid department at Lower Columbia College is seeking a Program Specialist 3 to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) regulations, supporting Bachelor's degree students, and managing scholarship processing.
Responsibilities
- Understand and apply equity principles to financial aid administration.
- Update and implement SAP processes, monitor student progress, and manage appeals.
- Award and adjust financial aid packages, including scholarships, for BA degree students.
- Collaborate with external partners to ensure timely scholarship disbursements and maintain accurate records.
- Lead SAP reviews, monitor academic progress, and communicate with students and stakeholders.
- Support the college's diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Requirements
This role requires a strong background in financial aid, including experience with federal and state regulations, database systems, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and two years of full-time work experience in an educational setting.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent experience.
- Two years of full-time work experience in financial aid.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suites.
- Experience with electronic information management systems and federal financial aid platforms.
- Analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and requirements.
- Experience with database systems and federal databases such as NSLDS, COD, and FPP.
- Professional credential from NASFAA or FAAC® designation preferred.
- Experience with PeopleSoft or similar financial aid management systems.
Skills
Equity-driven, analytical, detail-oriented, and culturally responsive communication skills are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suites is also required.

Schedule
