About the role
Adventure Scientists is hiring a full-time Program Operations Lead to support and lead their Programs team. The role involves people leadership, portfolio oversight, capacity planning, and building operational systems to help deliver complex conservation work across countries and cultures. The organization is a nonprofit that pairs scientists with individuals capable of gathering difficult-to-obtain environmental data.
Responsibilities
- Provide people leadership, coaching, and development for a team with varied roles and working styles.
- Oversee a portfolio of concurrent programs, including international program management, capacity planning, and prioritization.
- Navigate operational complexities of international work, such as cross-cultural collaboration, multiple time zones, local partner contexts, and differing logistical, financial, or regulatory environments.
- Build and improve operational systems, including workflows, planning tools, documentation, dashboards, standard operating procedures, and team rhythms.
Requirements
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in project or program management in a remote or hybrid, dynamic environment.
- 5+ years of experience in people leadership, with demonstrated success supporting a team.
- Proven experience overseeing a portfolio of concurrent programs, including exposure to international program management.
- Strong experience navigating operational complexities of international work.
- Experience building and improving operational systems.
Qualifications
Preferred certifications include PMP or PRINCE2, and Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or other Agile certifications.
