The position requires a comprehensive and detailed understanding of research policies/protocols, residency requirements and hospital policies, as well as a high degree of initiative and independent judgment.Job Title: Program Manager Medical ResearchEmployment Type: Full Time, 40 hours per weekShift: Day Shift Location: St. Mary Medical CenterPosition PurposeThe Program Manager is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and growth of industry-sponsored clinical research within the hospital, while also supporting the scholarly mission of Graduate Medical Education (GME). As a Program Manager you will:1. Industry-Sponsored Research OversightManage and facilitate all aspects of industry-sponsored clinical research studies from feasibility through study closeoutServe as the primary liaison between sponsors, contract research organizations (CROs), investigators, and hospital departmentsCoordinate study start-up activities including feasibility assessments, budgeting, contract negotiation support, and regulatory submissionsEnsure compliance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines (e.g., IRB, FDA, GCP)Monitor study progress, enrollment targets, timelines, and financial performanceSupport audit readiness and ensure proper documentation and reporting requirements are met2. Research Program DevelopmentDevelop and expand the hospital’s portfolio of industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated researchIdentify new research opportunities and partnerships aligned with institutional prioritiesCollaborate with leadership to establish goals, metrics, and strategic direction for research growth3. Education & Mentorship in ResearchMentor medical residents, fellows, and faculty in research design, methodology, and implementationProvide guidance on:Study designProtocol developmentData analysis and interpretationManuscript and abstract preparationDevelop and deliver educational sessions, workshops, and seminars on research skills and scholarly activitySupport residents and faculty in meeting ACGME scholarly activity requirements4. Scholarly Activity SupportPromote a culture of inquiry and academic scholarship across departmentsTrack and report scholarly activity metrics (e.g., publications, presentations, grants)Assist clinicians with research project development, including quality improvement and clinical research projects5. GME Research Day LeadershipPlan, organize, and execute an annual interdisciplinary GME Research DayCoordinate abstract submission, review processes, and judging criteriaEngage faculty and external reviewers/judgesOversee event logistics, scheduling, poster/oral presentations, and awardsEnsure broad participation across specialties and disciplines6. Regulatory & Compliance OversightEnsure adherence to Institutional Review Board (IRB) standards and human subject protectionsMaintain knowledge of evolving regulatory requirements and implement best practicesProvide guidance on ethical research conduct and compliance7.
