Program Manager II

About the role
The Project Manager I is part of the Project Management Office and will be responsible for several large-scope projects, including Locomotive Builds, Research and Development, Rebuild and Repower, Aftermarket products, and Power Products ranging from small to New Product Introduction (NPI).
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple projects to ensure on-time, within-scope, and within-budget delivery.
- Organize and structure project teams to meet project needs.
- Lead the development of a detailed project plan.
- Develop and communicate project scope, goals, and deliverables, ensuring transparency with all relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure resource availability and allocation.
- Control project costs and manage the project budget.
- Use verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs.
- Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques.
- Report and escalate issues to management as needed.
- Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
- Communicate project status with the organization and end customers as defined by the contract.
- Establish and maintain relationships with all project stakeholders.
- Ensure all contractual deliverables are met.
- Accept special assignments as needed.
- Travel as required (20-30%).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Business or Program Management or equivalent.
- Experience using MS-Project, Primavera, or other project management scheduling tools.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience on capital-intensive, highly engineered, long life-cycle product lines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional conflict resolution skills.
- Understanding of locomotive products.
- Experience in successfully managing people, projects, and/or programs.
- Ability to influence and lead others, both up and down the organization.
- High level of analytical ability to assess, identify, and facilitate alternative courses of action.
- Able to work independently.
- High level of interpersonal skills to work within a team environment.
- Attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- Exposure to ERP systems.
- PMP certification.
- Locomotive knowledge.
