About the Role

The Tactical Solutions Strategic Business Unit delivers mission system solutions—from specialized antennas to radio-frequency electronics and electro-optical technologies—to the warfighter. Our systems enhance the performance of military platforms, including aircraft, land vehicles, ships, and satellites, providing warfighters the advantage to take action, identify targets, and defend against evolving threats.

Responsibilities

  • Manage dynamic and highly technical development and/or production programs, emphasizing design, fabrication, and test of tactical RF and EO/IR components, subsystems, and systems.
  • Provide overall program leadership, direction, and guidance to ensure successful execution in accordance with budget, schedule, contract, Statement of Work (SOW), and Technical Specifications.
  • Lead and motivate program staff through effective team building and leadership.
  • Develop and maintain robust internal and external communication systems; report program status to upper management.
  • Ensure program requirements, objectives, and expectations are clearly communicated and flowed down to the internal team and subcontractors.
  • Serve as the primary interface with the customer and BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems (SMS) for all program-related matters.
  • Develop and monitor the fidelity of the program baseline, including task definition, budgets, and schedules.
  • Continuously review and evaluate program status, resolving unplanned issues with optimal solutions, including forward planning, escalation, and resource allocation.
  • Identify and pursue follow-on work, increased scope, and additional programs through customer relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with government and company regulations, policies, and procedures; negotiate acceptance of program plans with internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Manage unique material, process, and supply chain challenges related to new technology hardware development.
  • Define, secure, organize, and direct staff, resources, standards, processes, procedures, and tools essential for program success.
  • Resolve conflicts, demands, and priorities on assigned programs.
  • Support and manage proposals as required.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships across departments, business units, and the company to foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or U.S. Department of Education.
  • A current, active Secret security clearance is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with demanding customers, difficult schedules, and technically challenging projects.
  • Experience with standard program status tools is preferred, including:
    • Earned Value (EV) and Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS), including variance reporting.
    • Program performance reporting, including highlights, Cost Performance Index (CPI), Schedule Performance Index (SPI), schedule progress, technical status, and customer relations.
    • Technical Performance Metrics (TPMs) to track progress against key technical requirements.
    • Risk and opportunity management processes related to the program plan.
    • Change control processes to manage and resolve internal and external changes.
  • Ability to self-start, understand the big picture, and address detailed technical, budget, and schedule issues.
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools, including Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Office.
  • Excellent communication skills.
