Program Manager, Expert
Manages and/or administers one or more company programs. Provides oversight, governance, communication, training, and reporting, as well as overall process and project management for the assigned program(s). Manages the program budget, which may include developing and presenting the budget proposal. This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need within the PG&E Service Territory.
Responsibilities
- Applies expert knowledge of Program Management to wide-ranging issues and assignments; works independently with guidance on only the most complex issues.
- May lead project teams and design or develop new programs under a larger umbrella of goals and initiatives.
- Manages cross-departmental, complex programs with significant impact on the line of business; leads development of plans to achieve program goals.
- Provides standardized regular reports and custom, ad-hoc reports for program-level review; may support divisions with operational metrics to provide intelligence on performance trends.
- Develops and delivers presentations to leaders regarding program progress toward goals.
- Plans and forecasts work to be completed as part of the program; monitors and ensures closure of projects and program maintenance or construction work orders.
- Identifies issues, develops solutions, and presents recommendations and implementation plans to leadership for approval.
- Performs trend analysis to identify cost drivers and develops mitigation plans to improve business results.
- Manages capital and expense spending to ensure work identified in the program plan is completed and productivity cost targets are achieved; reviews cost monitoring systems to ensure controls are in place.
- Negotiates and sets productivity and unit cost targets; prepares accurate forecasts, monitors spending, and develops variance explanations.
- Develops business cases for budget or additional funding; works closely with peers and leaders to ensure financial targets are understood and achieved.
- Leads partner organizations to develop and implement improved processes, best practices, controls, and procedures to enhance efficiencies, compliance, customer satisfaction, and cost reduction.
- May collaborate with other project or program managers to reschedule work, re-allocate funds, and explore other means to achieve financial and productivity goals.
- Represents the program as a subject matter expert and stakeholder on process improvement teams, regulatory filings, and various stakeholder groups; may support GRC witness with testimony development and data request responses.
- May develop new policies, processes, infrastructure, documentation, and tools to support new programs; develops tools for tracking and control.
- Develops communication and training plans to ensure the target audience is educated on program purpose, processes, and requirements; ensures compliance.
- Ensures regulatory compliance with the program.
- Provides leadership or work direction to lower-level peers.
- Uses available AI tools to effectively and efficiently perform assigned duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 7 years of total related experience.
- SAP experience.
- Project or program management experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety or equivalent experience (desired).
- PMP Certification (desired).
- Experience or knowledge in Power Generation & Civil Construction (desired).
- 5 years of safety experience (desired).
- Team leadership and collaboration skills.
- Basic negotiation skills and ability to influence.
- Knowledge of project management, process improvement best practices, concepts, methods, and techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of utility processes, regulatory requirements, critical success factors, goals, and initiatives.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to influence.
- Analytical problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- General financial management and budgeting skills; business acumen.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and AI tools.
Pay
PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on factors including internal equity, skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location.
- Bay Area: Minimum: $126,000 | Midpoint: $163,000 | Maximum: $200,000
- Non-Bay Area: Minimum: $120,000 | Midpoint: $155,000 | Maximum: $190,000
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
