Program Manager, Electro-Optical Systems

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) designs and manufactures first-of-a-kind electromagnetic and electric power generation systems. GA-EMS' expanding portfolio of specialized products and integrated system solutions support critical fleet, space systems and satellites, missile defense, power and energy, and process and monitoring applications for defense, industrial, and commercial customers worldwide.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Program Manager to join our GA-EMS team located in Longmont, CO, supporting our Electro-Optical Systems Group. We are looking for a highly qualified Program Manager with experience in the research and development of advanced optical systems, including technologies related to free-space optical communications, space domain awareness, EO/IR sensing and imaging, astronomical imaging, acquisition and tracking, adaptive optics, and beam control. The qualified individual should have experience working with US Department of Defense agencies and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering teams to develop, build, test, and demonstrate state-of-the-art optical systems and components.
• Actively support the development and growth of GA-EMS' electro-optical systems business and related product lines.
• Manage all program phases from conceptualization through completion, including acquisition, planning, and managing technical performance to ensure technical, business, and financial objectives are attained.
• Participate in and lead engineering teams to establish and implement design concepts, performance and quality measures, and engineering efforts for research, development, integration, and testing of advanced optical systems and components.
• Develop and coordinate research and development program plans and product delivery methods for multiple customers.
• Participate with technical staff and Group executive management to develop and implement current, annual, and long-term technical, schedule, quality, business, and financial objectives for the programs.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in engineering, science, or a related technical field, as well as thirteen or more years of progressively complex program administration experience. Equivalent experience may substitute for education.
• Demonstrates technical expertise and application of program management principles, concepts, and practices, as well as leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
• Must be able to develop solutions to problems that require coordination of technologies across program requirements.
• Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills to enable effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
• Customer-focused, able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.

Pay

Salary range: $140,900 - $257,233
