PROGRAM MANAGER, CHRONIC DISEASE PREVENTION COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSE PROGRAM MANAGER
Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to manage, evaluate, direct, coordinate, administer and supervise the Chronic Disease Prevention Program, which consists of 15 full-time and 1 part-time positions, comprising professional nurses, community health educators, paraprofessionals and secretarial staff, in fulfilling the mission of the Health Department, which is to preserve, promote and protect the health and well-being of all people by advancing health equity in Anne Arundel County.
Responsibilities
- Provide oversight for programmatic areas including the Cancer Screening Services (CSS) program, healthy eating education (including obesity prevention), cancer and tobacco-use prevention (including tobacco cessation and tobacco enforcement), Cardiovascular Disease Risk Prevention (including diabetes and hypertension) and management of online health education resources.
Requirements
- A Master’s degree in nursing or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Two years of experience as a Community Health Nurse in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity or one year of experience as a Community Health Nurse and two years of experience in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity as a Registered Nurse.
Qualifications
- Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and two years of experience as a Community Health Nurse for the required education.
- Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and three years of experience as a Community Health Nurse for the required education.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classification or Nursing or Health Care Specialist specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
Desired Or Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with community partners.
- Experience with grant writing and budget development.
- Experience providing health education.
- Experience implementing new programs and initiatives.
Licenses, Registrations and Certifications
- Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.
