Core Duties

  • Deliver tutor training/preparation sessions using curriculum developed by the team over the past 5 years.
  • Lead tutor training/preparation sessions on Mondays or Fridays, in-person, on campus.
  • Help tutors develop math strategies that promote understanding of middle school and algebra math concepts using hands-on manipulatives.
  • Provide detailed feedback on tutor performance and support ongoing tutor development.
  • Travel to school sites independently on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each school week to monitor tutoring activities.
  • Cookordination with school site staff and attend weekly meetings with research and tutoring team staff.
  • Aid with administering assessments and consenting research participants at school sites.

Requisite Skills

  • Proficient in middle school math concepts, including fractions, integers, number lines and area models as well as all early algebra topics.
  • Proficient in using Algebra Tiles and Fraction Tiles to develop a conceptual understanding of mathematics.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective mathematics teaching/learning practices.
  • Ability to develop professional and respectful relationships and participate in open communication with tutors, faculty, and team members.
  • Ability to create engaging training/preparation sessions for tutors.
  • Disposition for embracing growth and development in this role.
  • Experience with CANVAS, PowerPoint, and Qualtrics preferred.
  • Well organized and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work in varied settings and locations as determined by research goals.
  • Ability to drive to and from school sites reliably.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 48 months of program development, program management or related experience.
