Job Summary

Bureau Veritas is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Project Engineer - Asset Advisory to lead comprehensive Asset Management and Asset Advisory programs. This role combines engineering expertise, program leadership, client consulting, and capital planning strategy to help organizations make informed decisions regarding facility investments, infrastructure renewal, lifecycle management, deferred maintenance, energy performance, and portfolio optimization.

About the role

This role requires a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of California and is a remote position with regional travel. Candidates must reside in California or a Western state adjacent to California.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of Asset Management and Asset Advisory programs for key clients in education, government, industrial, healthcare, and commercial sectors.
  • Oversee and mentor a cross-functional team of Engineers, Architects, Certified Energy Managers, Building Analysts, and Assessment Professionals conducting facility condition assessments, lifecycle cost analyses, equipment inventories, and ADA evaluations.
  • Serve as the engineering subject matter expert for facility assessments, building systems evaluations, infrastructure assessments, energy performance reviews, and capital planning initiatives.
  • Evaluate building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, site infrastructure, and related assets to identify deficiencies, risks, deferred maintenance, and capital investment requirements.
  • Review facility assessment findings and provide professional engineering recommendations regarding asset condition, operational performance, lifecycle costs, and long-term capital planning strategies.
  • Review and enhance technical reports, ensuring deliverables are accurate, actionable, consistent, and aligned with client goals.
  • Collaborate with Sales in identifying new opportunities, developing proposals, and defining client-specific program objectives.
  • Serve as the primary client advisor, translating technical findings into practical business recommendations and long-term asset management strategies.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities, drive standardization across reporting and workflows, and champion quality control across all program activities.
  • Participate in industry events, present client results, and contribute to thought leadership in the Asset Management and Asset Advisory space.
  • Be willing and able to perform the duties of a Senior Project Assessor when needed, including field assessments, report writing, technical reviews, and client presentations.
  • Mentor engineers, building analysts, energy professionals, and assessment staff while promoting technical excellence and consistency across program delivery.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establishes, maintains, and enforces program standards, technical methodologies, quality expectations, and reporting procedures across all assigned programs.
  • Serves as the main point-of-contact with clients during the execution of projects and programs.
  • Prepares progress reports and communicates program status to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Serves as the senior engineering technical lead, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical direction to engineers, building analysts, energy professionals, and field assessment teams.
  • Supports recruiting activities through resume review, phone screens, interviews, and candidate selection.

Qualifications

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution required. Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in engineering, facility assessments, capital planning, asset management, infrastructure consulting, or related disciplines. Minimum 5 years of program management, project leadership, or supervisory experience. Minimum 5 years of experience performing or managing Facility Condition Assessments (FCA), Property Condition Assessments (PCA), capital planning studies, or asset management programs. Strong understanding of building systems, infrastructure assets, facility operations, and maintenance practices. Experience working with public sector, higher education, healthcare, industrial, or commercial real estate portfolios preferred. Consultative mindset with the ability to guide clients through complex facility portfolio and capital planning decisions. Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current California Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing. Valid driver's license with no significant MVA points or violations.
  • Skills: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, peers, and technical field staff. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Technology Skills: Proficient in operating a computer, having knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, and project management software. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to operate an electronic tablet in the field for live data collection.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • The Senior Project Engineer directs Lead and Senior Project Assessors within the Asset Management Division on specific programs by ensuring clear scopes are understood, projects occur on schedule, issues are resolved efficiently, and technical decisions are made in alignment with client objectives and company standards.
