JOB SUMMARY

The Program Lead is responsible for facilitating day camp programs focused on youth enrichment with an emphasis on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Duties include working closely with the Program Coordinators to ensure program needs are being addressed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fulfill program and special event responsibilities identified by the Program Director.
  • Facilitate programs with intention and purpose. Conduct all activities to ensure that the goals and objectives of each program are met.
  • Provide high quality programs using current teaching techniques and FYE Standard Operating Procedures. Fulfill Administrative requirements outlined in manual including completion of program attendance, incident documentation and program reports.
  • Be available for families seeking services with a general working knowledge of all ASYMCA programs and services.
  • Actively participate in scheduled meetings, team implementation of FYE events.
  • Monitor and organize program supplies and equipment.
  • Implement and facilitate programs which support the needs and well-being of the military family in regards to Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.
  • Maintain professionalism by administering both verbal and written correspondence in a timely manner.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with program participants and FYE staff.
  • Dresses appropriately for job responsibilities; maintains professional demeanor when representing the ASYMCA.
  • Fulfill program and special event responsibilities identified by supervisor(s).
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure the YMCA’s core values (responsibility, respect, caring, and honesty) are incorporated into the facilitation and curriculum of programming. Demonstrates the YMCA Leadership Competencies.

EDUCATION/YEARS EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum: High School Diploma.
  • Preferred: At least two years college level coursework with an emphasis in Social Service, Child Care, Family Resources or Education or comparable course of study, and experience in either facilitating children’s programs and/or working in a similar or related capacity.
  • Experience working with adults and children in different life stages.
  • Familiarity with the military population or equivalent socio-economic group.
  • Experience facilitating children’s programming.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Responsible, well organized, and demonstrate initiative.
  • A professional demeanor with an aptitude for analytical thinking and problem solving.
  • Knowledge in Windows, Excel.
  • Must be accurate and detail-oriented, possess strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a complex and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational, and public speaking skills.
  • Standard office equipment and machines such as telephone, personal computer, multi-function copy machine, and 10-key calculator.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must either possess or be able to obtain Pediatric and Adult CPR and First Aid Certification.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel and uses hands, arms and legs for dexterity, balance and climbing stairs. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifts, carries and balances objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Pulls and pushes such objects as file drawers and supplies.
  • Prioritizes and multi-tasks work and projects requiring good memory, concentration and analytical thinking.
  • Occasionally is required to perform the safe operation of office equipment and machines, and recognize and abate safety hazards within the workplace.
  • Must be able to hear, see including peripheral vision and distinction of colors, read and communicate verbally and in writing frequently with a wide range of people from divergent socio-economic and cultural backgrounds and origins.
