Program Instructor - Marble Falls Location

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Responsible for the curriculum and instruction of the Art and Education Program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Responsible for leading a group of individuals with engaging lesson plans while developing positive and professional relationships with staff, clients, families, community and provider partners. Oversight of record keeping and case notes in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Providing program and community growth. Meeting goals set forth by Art and Education Program Manager and Site Coordinator.

- Embody and embrace The Arc's core values: Respect, Joy, and Integrity. - Believe in the opportunity for all to live to their fullest potential and contribute actively to their communities. - Strong organizational, planning, time, and project management skills. - Excellent people and behavior management skills. - Professional management of a diverse clientele. - Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities. - Ability to work independently and lead large groups. - Design, research, develop, and implement engaging curricula. - Lead a medium to large group of I/DD learners to enhance their independence. - Assist the Education Manager in managing the education, art studio, class instruction, client safety, client instruction, client behavior redirection, volunteers, and interns. - Assist the Education Manager and Site Coordinator in managing day-to-day activities of the art studio, gallery, and education programs. - Write daily attendance and progress notes according to contract provider guidelines for billing. - Organize the classroom and supplies for efficiency. - Promote community growth through relationship building. - Participate in fundraising efforts.

Skills and Experience

- Experience teaching group classes. - Teamwork, group leadership, and public speaking skills. - Computer proficiency, including database software. - Patience and understanding when working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. - Knowledge of promoting skill development through positive education. - Effective communication and relationship-building skills. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - High School Diploma or equivalent. - Valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance. - Background check required. - Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of students with disabilities, parents, administrative staff, and colleagues.
