Duties And Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of duties associated with instructing or leading recreation programs for youth and/or individuals with disabilities.
  • Provides a safe, effective, and supportive learning environment for diverse participants with varying ability levels.
  • Aids Coordinator in supporting participants in various recreational programs.
  • Supports inclusion and accommodation in other program areas as needed.
  • Works 1:1 with individuals with disabilities as needed.
  • Stays updated on latest trends and techniques in areas of expertise.
  • Evaluates class effectiveness and recommends new classes or techniques.
  • Ensures participants are performing activities correctly and safely.
  • Adapts activities for various participant ability levels.
  • Maintains confidentiality with participant specific information.
  • Instructs and guides volunteers in various programs.
  • Sets up and takes down required program equipment.
  • Operates assigned motor vehicles safely and obeys all applicable traffic laws.
  • Ensures vehicle is ready for use including, but not limited to, obtaining keys, filling with gas, and cleaning vehicle/inspecting upon return.
  • Ensures passengers adhere to the correct usage of vehicle safety equipment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be 21 years old or older.
  • Three years of therapeutic recreation or related experience preferred.
