About the role

The role is a Program Engineering Manager (PEM) position that requires a hybrid work format, combining both in-person and remote work. This role is based in Totowa, NJ and involves periodic travel to other BAE Systems facilities and potentially customer sites.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering focal point for all activity within the projects including strategic planning, bid and proposal support for engineering content, engineering strategy and integrated plans on programs, engineering staffing, issue reporting, and risk and opportunity management.
  • Provide overall project technical leadership; plan, execute, and manage all engineering efforts within the project.
  • Partner and collaborate with program managers, functional engineering managers, subcontractors, customers, and factories to ensure program goals, requirements, and needs are understood and achieved.
  • Monitor project plans and execution to ensure technical and work scope requirements, schedule, and budget are well defined and maintained.
  • Ensure engineering efforts are planned and executed in accordance with company policies, procedures, processes, and best practices.
  • Provide the coordination between the engineering team, functional managers, and Product Line Engineering Directors, to ensure all necessary reviews are conducted and approvals are received.
  • Ensure project and product safety are managed in accordance with company policies, procedures, processes, and best practices.

Requirements

  • Active DoD Secret Level Security Clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • 10+ years of applicable experience in project engineering management including organizational design, planning, estimating, design management, and product verification
  • Strong team building skills that enable collaboration and coordination within and across teams and functions

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Experience executing programs from a Cost Account Management (CAM) role utilizing the DoD Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Experience obtaining a Top Secret Security clearance and a Special Access clearances
  • 8+ years’ experience working with complex electrical products in a development, transition to production and/or sustainment role
  • 10+ years’ experience leading highly technical teams on development, transition to production and/or production programs
  • Excellent independent problem-solving skills, judgment, and analytical capability
  • Demonstrable project leadership on multidiscipline teams and projects
  • Able to present technical information to program teams and/or customers
  • Able to lead others to closure
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
