About the role
As a Program Director, Respiratory Therapy at American Career College, you will guide students and associates to achieve excellence in healthcare, impacting the lives of patients through your leadership and expertise.Responsibilities
- Support the College and/or departmental goals to ensure compliance with programmatic accreditation and licensure, maintaining internal consistency, and meeting graduate outcome expectations for placement.
- Participate in curriculum development and coordination, determining teaching assignments using a blended instructional approach, selecting faculty, and coordinating program-specific external facilities and instruction.
- Provide professional leadership and support for teaching faculty; serve as a mentor and facilitator for assigned faculty members; and foster an environment that encourages creativity, responsiveness, and self-responsibility.
Requirements
- Minimum of four (4) years' experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care.
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience teaching in an accredited respiratory care program either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor.
- Knowledge of state, federal, and local laws/regulations related to programs, governmental compliance, and other regulatory standards such as Title IV, ABHES, CoARC, BPPE, and other accreditation standards.
- One (1) year of teaching experience in the subject areas taught or demonstrate prior training in instructional methodology and teaching skills from a formal teacher educational program or any comparable training program or formal in-house training program.
Qualifications
- Hold a minimum of a baccalaureate degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).
- Must be a graduate from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in the specialty field or the subject area in which they teach. Associate degree in the specialty field required.
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential and current state license.
- Current CPR Card.
