About the role

As a Program Director, Dental Assisting for American Career College, you will guide our Dental Assisting students and associates to not only change their own lives but also the lives of every patient they treat throughout their career in healthcare. You will share your success story with the next generation of dental assistants and make a significant impact by:

  • Managing, planning, and implementing the program in support of College and/or departmental goals.
  • Determining teaching assignments using a blended instructional approach combining face-to-face instruction with online instruction (as applicable).
  • Selecting faculty, coordinating program-specific external facilities, and ensuring an environment that fosters creativity, responsiveness, and self-responsibility.
  • Mentoring and facilitating teaching faculty.
  • Monitoring and analyzing student attrition and retention data, working with other college leaders to develop initiatives that improve retention.
  • Attending at least one professional development activity and two in-service events annually.

Responsibilities

You will manage, plan, and implement the program in support of College and/or departmental goals, ensuring compliance with programmatic accreditation and/or licensure, internal consistency, and graduate outcomes to meet placement expectations. You will participate in curriculum development and coordination, select teaching assignments, and coordinate with external facilities and instructors. You will provide professional leadership and support for teaching faculty, fostering an environment that encourages creativity, responsiveness, and self-responsibility. Additionally, you will monitor and analyze student attrition and retention data, and work with other college leaders to develop initiatives that improve retention. You will also attend at least one professional development activity and two in-service events annually.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of full-time experience in a healthcare facility, with a minimum of one (1) year of direct patient care including 40 hours in an ambulatory healthcare setting.
  • One (1) year of teaching experience in the subject areas taught or demonstrate prior training in instructional methodology and teaching skills from a formal teacher educational program or any comparable training program or formal in-house training program.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A baccalaureate degree preferred.
  • A valid, active, current license as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA)/Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) and have been licensed for a minimum of two (2) years.
  • A Certificate of Completion of a course in teaching methodology of at least 30 hours or must be obtained within six (6) months of hire.
  • A current CPR Card.

Qualifications

Preferred Knowledge/Experience:

  • Knowledge of state, federal, and local laws/regulations relating to programs, governmental compliance, and other regulatory standards such as Title IV, ABHES, BPPE, and other accreditation standards.

Skills

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required. The ability to teach effectively and adapt to a blended learning environment is crucial. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff are also important.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $70,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is typically Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
