About the role

Lead the shelter. Protect program integrity. Build outcomes that last.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and administration of the shelter program to ensure program integrity
  • Supervise staff, including performance evaluations and regular supervisory sessions
  • Conduct monthly staff meetings and regular team/client meetings to support communication and accountability
  • Ensure compliance with VOADV Administrative Policies and Procedures and all safety/security requirements
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Program Policy & Procedures Manual and Client Handbook (including ongoing review/updates)
  • Prepare annual budget recommendations with input from direct reports; anticipate personnel and operational needs
  • Ensure quality delivery of program services and conduct regular program evaluations
  • Ensure contract compliance, data collection, and a positive relationship with funding source(s)
  • Ensure collection of outcome data required by the agency and/or funders
  • Conduct regular, unscheduled off-hour visits to program housing sites
  • Recruit for vacant positions to maintain appropriate staffing and supervision coverage
  • Network with community agencies to expand resources for clients
  • Represent VOADV on external coalitions, committees, and community meetings
  • Cook with law enforcement on homelessness initiatives
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a Human Services–related field plus 2 years relevant management experience OR 10+ years in the human services or corrections field
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills, basic computer skills, and solid organization/follow-through
  • Demonstrated leadership, sound judgment, and flexibility in a fast-moving environment
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet agency driving standards
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Ability to handle Protected Health Information and comply with HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus
