Qualifications
The PD must possess a strong understanding and general belief in the YMCA’s mission and goals and a clear understanding of how it relates to youth and family programming.
This position calls for comprehensive knowledge, experience and an understanding of age-appropriate activities and best practices for elementary age youth and before/after school childcare.
The PD must have at least a minimum of 3 years’ experience working with youth and/or family programs in a supervisory capacity and have at least an Associate’s Degree in Elementary Education or a related field.
The PD must have the ability to understand fiscal responsibilities.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations of assigned Club Kid sites and a day camp component.
- Visit each of their sites weekly, both AM and PM. AM visits must be completed at least 1 time a week with the visit being at least 30 minutes long. All of your sites you are in charge of need to be visited in the am each month at least one time. PM visits need to be done 2 times a week for at least 30 minutes each visit, each site. One time a week at a PM visit an activity of your choice with the ED approval needs to be done with the PD involved.
- Be present at the site or in the office until 6pm when making site visits.
- Document site visits in a journal and have it signed off by the site supervisor.
- Sign in and out on the visitors' log.
- Support these programs by hiring staff and purchasing supplies that are necessary to keep any program or activity at a high quality level and keep a consistent standard of safety.
- Promote growth and provide leadership for all paid staff and volunteers.
- Communicate to the ED any concerns regarding staff, participants, parents, policies, activities or programs.
- Help with the process of evaluating staff and programs periodically or whenever needed.
- Aid in the coordination and conducting of any staff meetings and trainings.
- Assist in the departmental budget process along with satisfying projected budgetary expectations.
- Integrate the YMCA Core Values into all program venues.
- Aid in the creation and facilitation of training venues for Club Kid staff.
- Aid in the organization of any training events.
- Ensure that all training and paperwork pertaining to Club Kid is current and in compliance, including licensing and permit applications.
- Promote Y programs throughout the community, by being a liaison between schools, community and the Y.
- Complete all aspects of hiring, including employee packets along with bi-weekly payroll and yearly evaluations.
- Cultivate program ideas that incorporate the Y’s Core Values.
- Work alongside the ED whenever necessary.
- Attend any and all meetings at the request of the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director.
- Participate in outside events that support the community and promote public awareness of the Y.
- Actively support branch needs, as “Director on Duty”, on designated nights.
- PTO must be approved by the ED. If there is no PTO available you will take the time without pay and unable to make the time up.
- Snack shopping at Sam's or other designated shopping stores for monthly shopping for Club kid supplies and snacks. When shopping is completed all receipts will need to be logged in the receipt book located in the ED office.
- Credit cards - no credit card spending without the approval of the ED.
- To include making copies, rosters etc.
- Fill in for director and assistant director as needed at each camp.
- Vacation Camp, participate and plan days off for schools when your schools are off. The hours worked on these days will be direct service. Hours for these days will vary and depend on amount of participants.
- Flexibility is Key, your supervisor can and will change or amend this agreement anytime.
- Employment is not guaranteed and is based on the need of the association.
- Aid as needed to work at Emergency Child locations.
