About the role
The Program Coordinator (Site-Based) will oversee daily program execution, mentor support, student engagement, and operations at program sites. This role directly impacts the quality of the program experience every day.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily program flow, transitions, and schedule adherence
- Ensure sessions (homework help, activities, meals, transitions) run smoothly
- Maintain a structured, safe, and supportive environment for students
- Serve as the primary point of contact for mentors on-site
- Support mentor attendance, readiness, and engagement
- Provide real-time guidance and escalation support as needed
- Ensure students are actively engaged and supported throughout programming
- Monitor group dynamics, behavior, and participation
- Support a positive, inclusive, and emotionally safe environment
- Collaborate with SEL, Training, and Program teams to ensure alignment
- Support implementation of curriculum and program design at the site level
- Communicate daily updates, challenges, and observations to Program Leadership
- Flag issues early and contribute to solutions
- Maintain organized documentation of site operations

- Comfort working directly with youth in group settings
Qualifications

- Preferred: Experience in education, youth programs, or after-school settings
- Preferred: Experience coordinating programs or managing groups
- Preferred: Familiarity with trauma-informed practices or SEL environments
- Preferred: Experience working in school settings (NYC DOE familiarity a plus)
Commitment
This is a volunteer role, approximately 5–10 hours per week, in-person at NYC school site (e.g., PS 188), with a minimum 6-month commitment preferred.
