About the Role
This part-time position provides inspirational and operational leadership to volunteers while overseeing weekly programming and special events for a growing Christian service ministry.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, select, and equip dedicated program and special event volunteers
- Meet regularly with volunteers for training and support
- Build a stable and growing participant base through outreach and engagement
- Conduct intake interviews with participants and caregivers
- Provide ongoing communication and support to participants and caregivers
- Plan and execute weekly programming and special events
- Provide resources and program assistance to partner churches and like-minded organizations
- Collaborate with the Missouri Area Ministry team to engage churches and organizations
- Refer organizations to the Missouri Area Ministry team for ministry-specific assistance
- Analyze program effectiveness using Salesforce and other approved tools
- Create and manage campaigns to track volunteer and participant engagement
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned to support department and organizational needs
Requirements
- Vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agreement with the Joni and Friends statement of faith
- Desire to serve in a growing and dynamic Christian service ministry
- 3+ years of event planning, project management, and/or volunteer oversight
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Ability to lift 25 pounds and assist with event setup
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple events and projects simultaneously
- Proven ability to recruit, select, equip, and lead volunteers
- Willingness to travel domestically and work evenings/weekends as needed
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong sense of confidentiality
- Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and internet proficiency
- Understanding of Christian ministry, specifically Joni and Friends, is desirable
Physical Requirements
- Sedentary office work combined with occasional physical activity during events
- Able to sit for extended periods, operate office equipment, and communicate effectively
- During events, may require standing, walking, bending, reaching, or carrying materials for extended periods
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull items up to 25 pounds
- Work environments include offices, hotels, conference centers, and retreat facilities
- Offsite work may involve varying temperatures, lighting, noise levels, and increased activity during setup
- Professionalism, safety awareness, and adaptability to different environments and schedules expected
Employee Ministry Engagement
- Model Joni and Friends’ Christian beliefs and practices to advance the gospel mission during and outside working hours
- Support fellow staff and volunteers in following Christ through prayer, Scripture sharing, and example
- Engage with people living with disabilities with love, dignity, and in a manner that proclaims the gospel
- Participate or lead in prayer and worship during meetings, events, and outreaches
- Affirm the Joni and Friends Statement of Faith annually
- Uphold and advance the organization’s Mission and Vision through its Values
- Actively attend a church with a statement of faith that aligns with Joni and Friends’ beliefs
Pay
$21.00–$24.00 per hour
Schedule
7:30 am to 12:30 pm, Monday through Friday
