Program Coordinator - Child Care Training
About the role
The Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) is a regional planning commission serving 13 counties and over 7 million people. H-GAC works to improve the quality of life for residents through various initiatives including transportation, senior care, job connections, disaster recovery, and environmental preservation.
Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality professional development training sessions to support early learning providers participating in the Texas Rising Star program.
- Present training that focuses on specific content areas to engage adult learners in experiential-based learning opportunities.
- Collaborate with external training partners to provide high-quality training.
- Establish a process for tracking training, attendance, and quality assurance of each training session.
- Schedule and track training for child care providers' professional development in compliance with Workforce Solutions.
- Work with team members to develop flyers and informational materials for stakeholders.
- Development and review of reports to service providers, and local, state, and federal agencies.
- Aid in ensuring programs and services are delivered in accordance with the Workforce Board’s directive and compliant with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Serve as a liaison between service providers to review communication and other collateral information.
Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience facilitating or supporting professional development of staff training initiatives.
- Ability to perform and complete tasks with limited supervision.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and present strategies, leading to successful deliverables and outcomes.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and data management systems.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study.
- 3 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school, or in job-related duties.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in early education, or closely related field.
- Experience facilitating or supporting professional development of staff training initiatives.
- Familiarity with the Texas Early Childhood Professional Development System (TECPDS).
