About the role
This full-time staff position supports and assists the Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority (LCRA) Chapter 353 Advisory Board and the Enhanced Enterprise Zone (EEZ) Boards in their operations, including taking initiative, understanding and participating in the accomplishment of the organization’s mission, and undertaking operational duties in the absence of the Executive Director(s).
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and clerical assistance to the Executive Director(s) and the Board(s) of Directors of LCRA & EEZ.
- Process incoming and outgoing correspondence and other items as necessary.
- Understand key issues facing the EDC and its affiliate agencies to correctly answer inquiries and compile information.
- Coordinate Board meetings and other required meetings, including:
- Preparing and distributing meeting notices.
- Organizing monthly agenda content and related materials.
- Distributing and posting meeting notices, agendas, and packets.
- Tracking Board Commissioner attendance to ensure a quorum.
- Scheduling the boardroom, caterers, and setting up the venue.
- Monitoring and recording meetings, transcribing and maintaining minutes.
- Preparing resolutions and other pertinent documents as required.
- Maintain records, logs, and assist in preparing required reports.
- Issue tax-abatement certificates for LCRA & EEZ.
- Process tax-abatement applications, including:
- Reviewing appropriate documentation.
- Working with development staff to ensure all requirements are met.
- Making arrangements for inspections.
- Maintain related databases and physical files.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Three to five years of experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
- Experience with Microsoft Access, Teams, and Zoom is preferable.
- Effective time management skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Residency in Kansas City, Missouri, or willingness to relocate within six months.
