User Research, User Experience, and Strategic Analysis

You will conduct user interviews and quantitative data collection to deeply understand the needs of researchers, their organizations, and what enables their most impactful work.
You will conduct metrics and impact analysis to measure program effectiveness.
You will analyze quantitative data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
You will analyze our end-to-end user experience and make recommendations on improvements to make based on your strategic analysis.

Community Experience, Design, and Implementation

You will design and continuously improve the end-to-end user experience (UX), including onboarding, visitor experience, stocking, slack engagement and design, office utilization and design, and the general social environment.
You will provide strategic problem-solving and rapid response to emerging community needs, using triage frameworks to prioritize interventions by impact and urgency.
You will address community needs through reactive work as it arises.

Hosting & Membership

You will investigate and evaluate who to admit as members into our space, including strategic and theory of change analysis.

Events & Communications

You will assist with the planning and execution of events, such as elite technical events for frontier AI company employees and educational events for policymakers in DC.
You will manage website updates and external communications, including creating content that showcases our programs and ensuring our public presence accurately reflects our work and impact.

Additional related duties

The specific balance of time spent across these responsibility areas will vary based on organizational priorities and program needs. Additional related duties may include supporting other areas of program operations, contributing to program strategy development, and assisting with special projects.

Skills & Experience

  • You have a Bachelor's degree or higher in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related technical field
  • You have a strong background in statistical analysis and experience with data-driven decision making
  • You have helped put on high context, large, and professional events
  • You think AI might have transformative effects in the coming years, and are driven to help humanity to safely navigate periods of intense uncertainty and change
  • You are a quick learner, capable of understanding complex technical topics and are motivated to learn about a wide array of research agendas across AI Safety
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • You have a strong background in project management and can juggle multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • You possess a strong service mindset and enjoy understanding and supporting users and their organizations. You care deeply about our users and their work
  • You demonstrate creativity and agency in problem-solving
  • You are flexible and up for tackling a wide range of problems
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and reactive work in a fast-paced environment

Compensation & Benefits

The base pay range for this role is $105,000 – $133,000 per year.

Additional Information

This is a full time, on-site role.
Our Berkeley office is a few steps from the nearest BART (metro) and bus stop.
On-site parking is also available.
