Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and participate in projects and tasks to administer the state’s National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) program.
- Communicate with current and prospective National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTS) and other relevant community members about eligibility for stipends, mentoring, or other opportunities.
- Promote the NBPTS program at conferences and meetings throughout the state, partnering with community members such as regional offices of education, teachers’ unions, and school districts for program recruitment.
- Create and lead professional learning opportunities.
- Work with management to establish annual budgets and project plans.
- Log and process applications, invoices, and other records.
- Collect and analyze data to evaluate program success and inform continuous improvement.
- Maintain contracts with external vendors, and develop trainings and other NBCT support networks.
- Evaluate applications for licensure and lead or participate in other educator pipeline initiatives as directed by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree plus two years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience planning, implementing, and monitoring projects, goals, or initiatives from inception through conclusion.
- Experience developing and delivering professional development to educators or experience serving as a mentor in a formal capacity, either at the state or district level.
- Experience developing budgets, expenditure reports, and maintaining accurate record-keeping.
- Skilled in paying attention to detail.
- Ability to provide creative solutions to problems.
- Ability to learn new procedures quickly.
- Strong writing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to successfully develop, execute, and monitor projects, and a continuous-improvement mindset.
- Ability to travel to attend recruitment and promotional events throughout the state.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team to accomplish goals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree.
- Experience serving as a mentor, facilitator, liaison, or as a candidate participant in a local or regional National Board for Professional Teaching Standards candidate cohort offered through the National Board Resource Center at Illinois State University.
- Experience using data for program evaluation.
- Experience leading recruitment efforts for employment or programmatic purposes.
- Experience developing public-facing communication materials (e.g. reports, guidance documents, or one-pagers.)
- Experience working with additional NBPTS initiatives.
- Current National Board Certification.
