Under direction, the purpose of the position is to provide staff support to an assigned school program, performing work in coordinating for instructors and students. The primary function is maintaining the operations of a CTE program/student laboratory such as Parts Marketing, Digital Animation, etc. or the federally funded Farmworker Job program. Position provides support in the specified functional program areas by monitoring student behavior, generating and maintaining records and reports, providing assistance, and enforcing codes of conduct. Incumbents work with students both individually and in groups as directed by the supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to internal and external customers in a timely, accurate, courteous and empathetic manner representing OCPS in a positive light.
  • Performs a wide variety of complex procedures to maintain a CTE laboratory/program operation.
  • Performs CTE program-specific responsibilities, maintains computerized records, inventory control data, verifies and performs inventory control periodic procedures, and processes work orders.
  • Assists teachers with the development and implementation of program curriculum, including behavior modification, learning styles, and performance interventions.
  • Maintains and properly stores equipment, supplies, materials, and computers assigned to the CTE program, such as curriculum materials, examinations, student records, media, text materials, and laboratory supplies.
  • Provides explanation, examples, and instruction to students consistent with the CTE program, reinforcing skills according to individual student needs or as directed by instructors.
  • Monitors activities and behavior of students during program activities, ensures physical and environmental safety, and enforces appropriate conduct and disciplinary controls.
  • Provides routine to moderately complex administrative support duties, including maintaining student files, supplies, materials, printing/distributing reports, filing documentation, answering telephone inquiries, and assisting students with enrollment processes.
  • Provides assistance and support to the assigned CTE program according to student needs or as directed by instructors.
  • Performs recruitment activities for the assigned program, including engaging potential employers, parents, community agencies, and student participation.
  • Participates in community activities to recruit and market the assigned CTE program.
  • Assesses exceptional student skills and employability for job placement potential; assists with job placement coordination and transition.
  • Identifies adult students with special needs for referral to a counselor or special populations coordinator.
  • Assists teachers in evaluating students' performance or progress; teaches students individually and in groups, reinforcing skills based on instructional guidelines.
  • Reviews student progress reports, meets with students for advisement, and reinforces program requirements for success.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communications and working relationships with district administrators, school staff, students, parents, community agencies, and employers.
  • Keeps up to date on current technology relevant to the position and attends training to maintain required skill levels.
  • Maintains timely and accurate information as part of job responsibilities.
  • Performs related duties as directed.

Additional Duties

  • Accreditation & Compliance — Attend COE (Council on Occupational Education) accreditation conferences to stay current on standards, compliance requirements, and policy updates, applying insights to strengthen institutional practices and support successful accreditation outcomes.
  • Employer & Community Partnerships — Develop and maintain partnerships with employers and community organizations to expand internship and job placement opportunities.
  • Career Fair & Event Management — Plan, coordinate, and execute annual career fairs and recruitment events engaging students and employers, strengthening community relationships and talent pipelines.
  • Graduate Career Support — Lead strategic initiatives that support graduates in securing employment aligned with their career goals.
  • Labor Market & Program Research — Conduct market discovery by analyzing graduate outcomes, employer needs, and industry trends to inform program strategy and continuous improvement.
  • Career Tracking Systems — Build and manage systems for tracking learner career progress and professional preferences, generating actionable insights to guide program growth.
  • Workshops & Networking Initiatives — Design and facilitate innovation-focused workshops, program-specific fairs, and networking events that connect learners with emerging career opportunities.
  • Social Media Strategy — Manage and execute multi-platform social media campaigns increasing monthly content views, boosting interactions, and driving sustained follower growth to expand program visibility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and three (3) years of documented successful program-related work experience; or related Career Technical Education postsecondary program completer; or two years postsecondary training in the specified job-related area with one year of related experience.
  • Must hold a current program-applicable industry certification/licensure.
  • Demonstrate administrative support skills and the ability to effectively communicate CTE program goals and objectives.
  • Must have necessary computer and technical skills related to the specific CTE program.

  • Situational Reasoning — Ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in evaluating information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria.

Physical Demands

  • Tasks involve the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, including stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • May involve lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).
  • Most tasks require visual perception and discrimination; some require oral communication and the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds.
  • Depending on the program, tasks may present potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature extremes, animals/wildlife, or violence.

Pay

Schedule

Monday through Friday. 8 hours per day. During summer, the schedule might be different.
