About the Role

This position provides learning experiences in a Child and Youth Services (CYS) program, preparing children using The Creative Curriculum system. The role involves working across various developmental areas to build a strong foundation for school success.

Responsibilities

  • Provide learning experiences in language, literacy, mathematics, social studies, science and discovery, music and movement, technology, citizenship, physical education, and creative expression.
  • Motivate children to develop skills, knowledge, and behaviors essential for school success.
  • Evaluate academic and social growth of children and maintain appropriate records.
  • Provide supervision, oversight, and accountability for children in compliance with DoD, Army, and local policies, guidance, and standards.
  • Implement a program of parental involvement and encourage parent communication, observation, and participation.
  • Complete designated training requirements and track and record training on your Individual Development Plan (IDP).

Requirements

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
  • Must meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements for the position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Must satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks, including a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Must complete a health assessment.
  • Successful completion of prescribed training (transition and/or annual) is required.

Qualifications

Resumes must clearly demonstrate relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities. A qualified candidate must meet one of the following:

  • Target-Level Requirements:
    • Eighteen (18) months of experience working in a group program with children and/or youth.
    • Possess and maintain a Child Development Associate (CDA) or Military School-Age Credential.
  • Entry-Level Requirements:
    • Twelve (12) months of experience working in a group program with children and/or youth and an AA degree with a major emphasis in early childhood education or child development.
    • BA/BS degree with a major emphasis in early childhood education, Elementary Education, Child Development, Home Economics, Special Education, or related behavioral sciences.

Highly Preferred Qualifications: Experience working as a Lead Child and Youth Program Assistant, Child and Youth Program Technician, or Child and Youth Program Assistant (Target Level - 4). This experience must be clearly defined on your resume to be considered for Highly Preferred status.

Area of Consideration

This job is open to candidates currently residing within the local commuting area (defined as a 100-mile radius) of Fort Drum, NY. Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included.

  • Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid.
