Part-time position supporting the YMCA’s mission through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

About the role

The Adult Fitness - Program Associate provides supervision, orientation, and safety for YMCA members and guests in the branch wellness and fitness areas.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct fitness evaluations and equipment orientations for members.
  • Suggest safe and effective exercises; assist members with proper form and technique.
  • Maintain and sanitize all fitness equipment to ensure good working condition.
  • Keep fitness areas and all YMCA spaces clean, functional, and sanitized.
  • Enforce fitness area policies and procedures.
  • Arrive at 4:45 am to complete opening duties.
  • Assist with facility tours and represent the YMCA at special events.
  • Attend departmental meetings, trainings, and certification courses.
  • Complete New Employee Orientation and Child Abuse Prevention training within 20 days of hire.
  • Report work time accurately via approved YMCA clocking methods.

Requirements

  • Promote and incorporate YMCA’s four core values and character development model.
  • Current state-approved CPR certification (at hire or earliest possible training).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience or knowledge in exercise science/physiology.
  • Excellent personal and organizational skills.
  • Willingness and ability to provide strong customer service.
  • Understand YMCA history, mission, and philosophy.
  • Obtain relevant YMCA certifications within 30 days of employment or first available offering.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Frequently stand for long periods, kneel, crouch, and lift heavy weights.
  • May be exposed to loud music.
  • Require sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions.
  • Ability to perceive, identify, and respond to signs of distress.
  • Specific visual abilities include close, distant, peripheral, and depth perception.

Pay

$12.00–$14.00 per hour.
