Responsibilities
- Facilitate activity programs for Milton that reflect the varied interests of the guests and provide them with meaningful and life enriching activities
- Facilitate programming together with the Life Enrichment Coordinator that encompasses all facets of an individual's being: physical, social, intellectual, artistic, and spiritual, including activities in and outside of Milton
- Implement all activities/clubs of the therapeutic activity program as guided by the Life Enrichment Coordinator
- Assist in adjustment in activity/social service programming as needed
- Motivate participation in routine programming
- Conduct or oversee activities/clubs as needed, encouraging guest involvement
- Coordinate special events, including holiday events under guidance of Life Enrichment Coordinator and Director
- Decorate Milton according to current holiday or event
- Practice infection control techniques and good hand-washing practice before and after all activities
- Develop knowledge of Milton policies, procedures, and state/federal regulations pertaining to activity programming
- Carry out other duties as assigned by Life Enrichment Coordinator and/or Director to fulfill the mission of the organization
- Participate in daily record keeping and documentation as assigned
- Facilitate group discussions
- Administer First Aid and CPR treatments in keeping with Milton policy
- Maintain CPR and First Aid certification
- Practice environmental safety and sanitation
- Provide input and support to other staff
- Monitor participant safety (wandering, falls, fire, choking) and complete occurrence reports as needed
- Identify each participant's changing needs and make progress notes regarding their physical, social, and emotional status
- Promote positive relationships with staff, families, and guests
- Effectively communicate with guests who have Alzheimer's and other types of Dementia
- Maintain a positive environment on the floor
Requirements
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Current First Aid and CPR training
- One year geriatric/disabled experience
- Valid driver's license
- CNA preferred

- Excellent communication and positive demeanor
- Ability to work well with other staff members, community organizations, participants, and the general public
- Ability to maintain participant confidentiality
- Knowledge of aging and dementia issues; knowledge of public relations or marketing
- Team oriented person who is a self-starter, is highly motivated, and is an independent worker
- Ability to communicate well orally and in writing
- Ability to physically assist guests, including pushing and manipulating wheelchairs
- Effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person, by telephone, or in written form
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding personal information of guests and staff
- Ability to follow directions well
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility
- Ability to exercise good judgment
- Ability to maintain patience and flexibility with people and work schedules
- Ability to remain flexible, emotionally stable, accepting people, nonjudgmental, nonprejudiced, and highly motivated
- Ability to understand the needs of aging and disabled adults and their caregivers
- Ability to interact effectively, professionally, and compassionately with adults or elderly guests who are living with Dementia and their families
- Light work involves exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, and otherwise move objects
- Involves bending, squatting, and reaching
- Position requires being on your feet most of the day

Part Time, Non Exempt. Monday–Friday.
