About the role

The Program Assistant will coordinate the daily operations of the Steuben Prevention Coalition Opioid Committee, focusing on strengthening collaboration and increasing capacity building among communities and reducing substance abuse among youth and adults.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees specific project implementation of the Steuben Prevention Coalition Opioid Committee’s activities including membership, recruitment, orientation, tracking of each and leadership nominations.
  • Collects and analyzes monthly data to inform the community about the committee’s accomplishments, concerns, needs, and project outcomes; prepares reports and shares best practices with multi-sector stakeholders.
  • Engages multi-sector partners from various fields such as health care, public health, health insurers, community-based organizations, local/state government, education, nonprofit, business, and more to support the work of the Committee.
  • Aids the Chair and Co-Chair in facilitating the Opioid Committee and any subcommittees meetings created under the Opioid Committee.
  • Attends meetings of organizations and coalitions related to the mission and goals of the Opioid Committee.
  • Manages project timelines, activities, documentation, and deliverables while aligning with multi-sector partner objectives and grant/project workplan requirements.
  • Coordinates Community Meetings, Forums, Health Fairs, and Table Events to increase community awareness of and promote the Steuben Prevention Coalition Opioid Committee and its mission.
  • Aids with social media efforts including Facebook, Newsletter, and Coalition Website by submitting information and documentation monthly to the Coalition Program Coordinator.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in health or related field; strongly desired.
  • Credential: Clean and Valid NY State Driver License.
  • Experience: A minimum of one year of experience and a passion for public health, prevention strategies, social determinants of health, and/or community-based health projects that seek to build alignment amongst multi-sector organizations in a collaborative, team-oriented style. Experience creating and managing work plans and time-sensitive deliverables and deadlines.
  • Additional Qualifications: Adheres to all applicable federal and state laws and regulations including, but not limited to, those governing confidentiality, privacy, program, billing, and documentation standards. Demonstrates ethical business practices, in accordance with all state and federal laws and regulations. Possesses exceptional time management skills and ability to effectively meet deadlines. Exhibits excellent verbal and written skills. Analyzes and interprets data and handles problem resolution. Proficient in using Windows, Microsoft Office, and multiple online software platforms as required by funders and partner organizations. Maintains confidentiality and handles confidential information with discretion. Possesses a valid NYS Driver’s license and a driver's record considered acceptable by agency and insurance carrier. Continuous use of a reliable, registered, and insured vehicle. Behaviors and attitudes support the organization's mission, philosophy, and policies.
