Program Assistant 2
Participant Pool Coordination
Supports the department’s Psych 110 research study requirement and paid participant registry during academic quarters; acts as primary point of contact between lab personnel and student participants; determines allotment of credits and students for experiments; verifies participating labs have approved research protocol; tracks student progress towards completion of credits to fulfill experiment requirements; update experiment and student reference materials; troubleshoot issues that prevent completion of student participation. Must present short presentation to Psych 110 class each quarter that explains research participation requirements.
Administration
- Initial point of contact for in-person visitors
- Directs email and phone inquiries
- Maintains department calendar
- Processes key requests and distribution of monthly department newsletter
- Affords assistance with general website updates as well as paid participant information
- Operates wide-format printer used for conference presentations and maintain supply inventory
Events
- Coordinate events which may include scheduling rooms, reserving venues, visitor travel logistics and catering
Financials
- Completes financial transactions in NU Financials as needed
- Submit payment requests to compensate research participants
- Affords assistance with reconciliation of accounts
Miscellaneous
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or its equivalent along with 2 years of administrative support experience is required.
Minimum Competencies:
- Intermediate knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and database software programs is required

About the Role
The Psychology Department seeks a detail-oriented and motivated participant pool coordinator to manage and support Psychology 110 research study requirements, paid participant registry and work as part of a team to provide daily administrative support to the department. Requires completion of basic training in the ethical practice of research with human subjects and participates in processes aimed at maintaining regulatory compliance with Northwestern Institutional Review Board (IRB).
Requirements
This is a full-time position at 37.5 hours per week and works onsite three/four days per week and one/two day(s) remotely during the academic quarters, with the opportunity for more remote work during the summer and breaks between quarters.
Qualifications
The target hiring range for this position will be between $38,660 -$46,980 per year, which is $19,75-$24.00 per hour. The salary offered will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
