About the role

We are currently looking to fill a Program Aide role in our early learning programs in DuPage County, IL. Salary The average starting salary for this position will fall in the range of $30,000 and $35,000 program annually. Where candidates fall in this range will be based on skill and experience level. $3,000 sign-on bonus ($750 first paycheck, $1,250 after 6 months, $1,000 after 1 year)

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Participates in a team approach to planning and implementing program activities.
  • Collaborates with Family Support Workers, Teacher, Teacher Assistant, site partners, and site supervisor for the betterment of the classroom and families.
  • Participates in child care and classroom-related activities during parent meetings/workshops.
  • Assists in ongoing CLASS implementation.
  • Responsible for the implementation of the program's Planned Language Approach, which is specifically designed to support dual language learners.
  • Helps carry out daily program by assisting Lead Teacher and Teacher as needed.
  • Helps Lead Teacher and Teacher guide children in achieving individual goals and assess children's individual strengths and needs.
  • Aids in activities of the children and ensures appropriate child guidance and discipline and proper ratios are maintained at all times.
  • Attends all mandated trainings.
  • Sets and achieves professional development goals.
  • Shares resources with other staff members as appropriate.
  • All professional development to be tracked in Gateways.
  • Ensures accurate completion of CACFP documents in conjunction with the other teaching staff.
  • Establishes positive relationships with children, parents, volunteers, and other staff members.
  • Provides a supportive, caring and safe environment for children.
  • Uses the playground as an extension of the classroom; assures that the playground is safe.
  • Provides active supervision to ensure the safety of children while in the classroom, during transitions, at time of transportation, and while on the playground.
  • Ensures that no child shall be left alone or unsupervised.
  • Participates in program recruitment efforts to maintain full enrollment.
  • Provides food preparation, food service area maintenance, food delivery and food storage using approved sanitation methods.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Certifications, Credentials And/or Experience

  • High School graduate or equivalent.

Travel/Mobility Requirements

Driving for work required with a personally owned vehicle. Travel Between Sites Preferred Qualifications Bilingual preferred: Spanish, Polish, Chin, Urdu.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Ability to effectively work with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Sensitivity to and respect for the needs of children and families, including those with disabilities.
  • Ability to carry out some physical activities such as lifting and carrying.
  • Working knowledge of computers.

Physical Requirements

  • Sit and stand for sustained periods of time.
  • Frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle, and operate objects or controls.
  • Occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch.
  • Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, and viewing a computer terminal.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
