Position: Program Administrator Reports To: Director of Teaching and Learning Status: Hourly Full-Time Staff Position, non-exempt Why This Role Matters The Program Administrator is the operational backbone of PS1’s teaching and learning initiatives, supporting students, faculty, and families, while ensuring the school’s programs run smoothly and safely. This role is essential to maintaining the high-quality progressive education experience families choose and invest in, translating the school’s mission and values into day-to-day excellence, innovation, and joyful learning. Major Responsibilities Coordination and Management Serve as a primary support to the Director of Teaching and Learning in all aspects of school program operationsSupport Director of Student and Community life in creating and implementing school and family programing for social emotional learning, life-skills, pluralism, and community buildingPartner with Operations to coordinate scheduling for classrooms and teachers for all school events, such as conferences, picture day, and all school eventsOversee logistics and act as administrative liaison to support the academic program and program eventsSupport student services, including standardized testing, outside evaluations, and professional services, coordinating seamlessly among teachers, parents, and external providersCoordinate class field trips, class learning celebrations, end of year class gatherings, and circle time presentations Track and organize professional development opportunities for faculty and staffCoordinate and maintain inventory of curricular materialsLead initial hiring efforts, tracking applications, arranging interviews, and creating schedules for candidatesBe an active presence in classrooms and yards when called upon, modeling progressive education principlesCoordinate connections with outside organizations, fostering partnerships aligned with PS1’s missionWork with local school districts to coordinate student services and state fundingEncourage and support all staff, faculty, and specialists in their pursuit of excellence, while fostering their unique passions and educational lens Teaching and Learning at PS1 Support preparation of observation, documentation, and progress-monitoring materials to guide instructional coaching Schedule and maintain agendas and notes for faculty meetings, communicate in grade-level meetings, and participate in professional learning communitiesSupport the scheduling and production of progress reports and conferences, including proofreading and editing commentsSupport the development, revision, and evaluation of school-wide curriculum initiativesEngage in ongoing reflection and professional growth Serve as a trusted adult who supports students’ confidence, identity, and agency School Citizenship & Community Life Participate fully in faculty orientation, professional development weeks, and school eventsShare responsibility for supervision, field trips, and community activitiesCollaborate respectfully with colleagues and administratorsUphold school policies and contribute to a culture of trust, accountability, and careServe on committees and contribute to school-wide initiatives aligned with PS1’s strategic plan Qualifications Team player with strong communication and leadership skillsInterested in systems thinking, maximizing efficiency, and streamlining communicationFlexible, calm under pressure, and growth-orientedAble to think skeptically, question assumptions, and rethink conclusionsEager to find the joy in working with children and being part of their growthDemonstrated success collaborating with teachers, administrators, families, and studentsAbility to nurture children’s identities and contribute to communities of belongingStrong communication, organization, and collaboration skillsBachelor’s degree requiredMinimum of 5 years of experience working with elementary-aged studentsPrior experience in office management and school administration Create a Job Match for Similar Jobs About PS1 Pluralistic School K-6 Elementary School PS1 MISSION STATEMENT PS1's Mission is to spark curious and critical thinkers who confidently contribute to their communities.
