About the Role

This is a full-time, tenure-track, 10-month contract position in the Biological Sciences Department, beginning in the 2026-27 academic year. The incumbent will be required to be present on Mt. San Antonio College’s campus to perform all essential duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Teach histotechnology courses within the Natural Sciences Division.
  • Develop and maintain curriculum in accordance with program standards.
  • Engage in professional development and committee work as required for tenure-track faculty.
  • Periodically travel to a variety of locations as part of assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Minimum qualifications as defined by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office for the discipline.
  • Ability to secure and maintain a valid California driver’s license if operating a vehicle.
  • Compliance with mandated reporter requirements under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act.
  • Compliance with Title IX reporting requirements for incidents of sexual misconduct.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in histotechnology, biology, or a closely related field; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in histotechnology, biology, or a closely related field AND two years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment; OR
  • The equivalent of the above qualifications (candidates may be asked to complete equivalency-related questions and provide unofficial transcripts).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching histotechnology or related courses at the community college level.
  • Certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
  • Experience with curriculum development and program assessment.

Pay

Initial placement on the salary schedule ranges from $87,818 to $131,058, based on formal education, full-time and/or part-time teaching experience, and directly related work experience, up to a maximum placement at step 9. Placement on the Academic or Vocational salary track will be determined at the time of hire per the faculty collective bargaining agreement.

Schedule

This is a 10-month, tenure-track position with a contract beginning in the 2026-27 academic year.

Other Requirements

  • Foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a certified transcript evaluation service with a course-by-course analysis and equivalency statement. The report must be submitted with the application.
  • Final offers of employment are contingent upon Board approval, successful live scan clearance, and authorization by Human Resources. Costs for live scan services are borne by the candidate.
