Professional Year & Placement Coordinator
Job Summary/Basic Function
Responsible for performing coordinative and administrative duties related to clinical practice and partnerships for Boise State University’s teacher preparation programs administered by the Office of Teacher Education. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Department Overview
The Office of Teacher Education is housed within Boise State University's College of Education and Public Service (COEPS) and serves as the central hub for educator preparation programs. The office supports prospective and current teacher candidates throughout their certification journey by coordinating admissions, field experiences, clinical practice, certification, and program support. In collaboration with faculty, school district partners, and state agencies, the Teacher Education Office is committed to preparing well-started teachers who are ready to meet the needs of Idaho's schools and communities.
Level Scope
Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry-level professionals and/or support employees.
Essential Functions
- Provides administrative support.
- Facilitates the delivery of required program services.
- Maintain students' files/records.
- Analyzes data, generates and/or assists with, and disseminates periodic reports (monthly and semester).
- May provide support to student groups.
- May oversee the work of less experienced employees or students.
- May independently manage specific program activities.
- Planning and executing assigned projects and operations within the specified department.
- Reviews and evaluates student eligibility for admission, program progression, clinical experiences, certification, endorsements, and other program milestones in accordance with university, program, state, and accreditation requirements.
- Carefully coordinates clinical experiences and student teaching placements by working closely with P–12 school districts, building administrators, and classroom mentor teachers; university liaisons, university faculty and students; and other educational partners to meet program and candidate needs.
- Maintain and strengthen collaborative relationships with internal and external partners to support program goals, educational partnerships, and candidate success.
- Contribute to accreditation, compliance, and continuous improvement efforts by supporting data collection, reporting activities, and documentation management.
- Process payments, follow hiring procedures, and perform related administrative operations.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with students, faculty, P-12 school personnel, state agency representatives, and community partners through written and verbal communications.
- May perform other duties as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Ability to work independently and use reference manuals to develop proficiency with software or computer systems.
- Good organizational, written, and verbal communication skills in the preparation and presentation of results.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Able to effectively prioritize and work on multiple tasks with concurrent deadlines and demonstrate excellent time management skills and efficiency.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in support of program goals and organizational priorities.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including experience communicating professionally with different stakeholder groups such as university faculty, staff, and students; P-12 school personnel and leadership; and state agency representatives.
- Knowledge of and experience working with educator preparation programs, teacher certification requirements, accreditation, and/or P-12 educational systems preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience working with P-12 schools and district administration.
Salary and Benefits
Salary range is $49,732.80 to $56,804.80 annually and is commensurate with experience.
