Professional Tutor - Tutoring & Learning Center (Part-Time)

Location: Main Campus - Dayton, OH
Part-time, regular status, up to 28 hours per week. Pay: $17.98 per hour.

About the Role

The Professional Tutor provides tutoring and skill-building services for students individually, in small-group sessions, and/or in academic labs across various subject areas. Tutors also participate in department training and professional development to maintain subject-area expertise and current teaching methods.

This search is specifically for the following content areas: Writing/Composition, History, Political Science, ESL, Introduction to Statistics, Business Statistics I & II, and Nursing, though other areas may also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual tutoring, small-group tutoring, and/or lab tutoring for Sinclair Community College students.
• Assist with Sinclair, Student Affairs, and Tutoring & Learning Center initiatives.
• Participate in department training and other professional development opportunities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of an associate’s degree required OR minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent with at least 60 semester hours in higher education; bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in tutoring or teaching, with preference given to those experienced in working with a diverse student population.
• Demonstrated high level of skill in communication, patience, problem-solving, listening, dependability, teaching, leadership, and adaptability.
• Familiarity with Zoom and Microsoft Outlook preferred.
