Professional Medical Collector (In-Person)

About the role

The objective of the Professional Medical Collector is to assist the Reimbursement Supervisor with the billing and collection process for all MIDC branches. This is a full-time, in-person position at the office located in Burr Ridge, IL.

Responsibilities

• Aid the Reimbursement Supervisor in collecting intake information and verifying insurance benefits.
• Provide explanations of charges to payers and patients as necessary.
• Work denied claims through insurance portals such as UHC, Availity, Medicare for multiple states.
• Follow up with insurance companies and patients regarding outstanding balances.
• Create mutually agreeable payment schedules with patients.
• Review Clearing House for claim rejections/errors, using tools like Waystar/Zirmed.
• Perform re-determinations and appeals via insurance portals as needed.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience in medical collection practices is required.
• Experience with Microsoft Suite and Outlook is preferred.
• Allscripts PM experience is preferred.
• Experience using insurance company portals (Medicare, Availity, etc.) is preferred.
• Proof of current vaccinations, including recommended boosters, is required for those working with immunocompromised patients.
