Professional Medical Collector (In-Person)

About the role

The objective of the Professional Medical Collector is to assist the Reimbursement Supervisor with the billing and collection process for all MIDC branches. This is a full-time, in-person position at the office located in Burr Ridge, IL.

Responsibilities

• Aid the Reimbursement Supervisor in collecting intake information and verifying insurance benefits.
• Provide explanations of charges to payers and patients as necessary.
• Work denied claims through insurance portals such as UHC, Availity, Medicare for multiple states.
• Follow up with insurance companies and patients regarding outstanding balances.
• Create mutually agreeable payment schedules with patients.
• Review Clearing House for claim rejections/errors, Waystar/Zirmed.
• Perform re-determinations and appeals as needed through insurance portals.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in medical collection practices.
• Experience with Microsoft Suite and Outlook.
• Allscripts PM experience preferred.
• Preferred experience with insurance company portals (Medicare, Availity, etc.).

Qualifications

• Proof of current vaccinations, including recommended boosters, commonly required for those working with immunocompromised patients, including measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis A & B, influenza, and COVID-19.

Skills

• Strong communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of medical billing and insurance processes.

Pay

$70,000 - $75,000/year ($22/hour + monthly bonus)
