Professional Maintenance Specialist (PMS)
About the role
The Professional Maintenance Specialist (PMS) will manage designated manufacturing equipment and technology in a fast-paced, high-volume, unionized manufacturing environment. Key responsibilities include coordinating safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale initiatives; creating standard maintenance procedures; guiding and coaching skilled trades on Stellantis Production Way techniques; and participating in kaizen projects.
Responsibilities
- Create Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMPs) related to time-based maintenance, mean time between failures, and equipment maintenance.
- Work with Skilled Trades to ensure designated equipment is maintained at basic conditions and guide them on restoring equipment to basic conditions.
- Achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Address throughput, run-to-run, and downtime issues with equipment in a production environment.
- Coordinate activities according to Stellantis Production Way standards, particularly the Autonomous and Professional Maintenance Pillar activities.
- Improve equipment effectiveness through systematic planning and execution of key maintenance enablers and coordination of all activities using the CMMS - Total Maintenance System (TMS).
- Lead kaizen project activities focused on Safety, Cost, Quality, and Throughput improvements and waste reduction.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 3 years of industrial automation experience with project management experience
- Ability to work any shift and overtime as required
- Excellent organization, written, and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with various levels of employees
- Ability to build effective business relationships with plant leadership and customers
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated troubleshooting problem-solving experience
- Goal-oriented self-starter with ability to lead teams
- Ability to coach/mentor/develop skilled trade employees
- Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in technical/engineering field
- Experience in continuous improvement systems and lean manufacturing
- Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor/develop team members
- Previous experience working in a union environment
- Green Belt/Red X/Six Sigma Training
- Experience with: controls, robotics, drives and system-level communication systems, sealing systems, glass cell systems, various conveyance systems, welding (all types), paint process and associated systems, vision systems and sensors use and application
- Experience in automotive/OEM body, paint, stamping press automation or general assembly
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing methodology and implementation
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Suite software programs
