Professional Liability Attorney

About the role

A regional defense firm is seeking an experienced and highly motivated attorney to join their Professional Liability practice group. The position involves defending professionals, businesses, insurers, and institutions in complex and high-exposure matters.

Responsibilities

• Handle all phases of professional liability litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, hearings, mediation, arbitration, and trial preparation
• Represent clients in complex malpractice and negligence matters
• Conduct legal research and draft persuasive legal briefs and motions
• Communicate effectively with clients, insurers, opposing counsel, and courts
• Develop litigation strategy and case evaluations
• Manage caseload independently while collaborating with partners and litigation teams
• Participate in business development and client relationship initiatives

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active license to practice law in Michigan
• 3+ years of litigation experience preferred, with professional liability or insurance defense experience strongly desired
• Excellent writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
• Deposition and courtroom experience preferred
• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
• Strong organizational and case management skills
