Key Responsibilities
- Lead boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction staking, right-of-way, and as-built survey projects.
- Oversee field survey crews by reviewing field data, verifying calculations, and ensuring quality throughout each project.
- Prepare plats, legal descriptions, easement documents, and other survey deliverables in accordance with applicable state and local requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, title companies, attorneys, engineers, and government agencies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Process field data and prepare final survey deliverables using Autodesk Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center (TBC).
- Research deeds, plats, public land records, and survey documentation to establish and resolve boundary conditions.
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, proposals, and resolving complex boundary or title issues.
- Mentor junior surveyors and field personnel while supporting their professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license required.
- Candidates licensed in another state who are eligible to obtain Illinois reciprocity will also be considered.
- Minimum 7 years of professional land surveying experience with a U.S.-based surveying or civil engineering firm.
- Strong experience performing: Boundary Surveys, Topographic Surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Construction Staking.
- Experience with subdivision platting is preferred.
- Experience with right-of-way, transportation, or utility corridor projects is a plus.
- Previous experience leading survey crews or managing survey projects.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Autodesk Civil 3D
- Trimble Business Center (TBC)
- Trimble GPS/GNSS equipment and data collectors
- Microsoft 365
- Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD) or MicroStation experience is a plus.
Desired Skills
- Strong knowledge of land surveying principles, boundary analysis, and legal descriptions.
- Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
