Responsibilities
- Lead the Survey Department, including field crews and office staff
- Oversee workload planning, scheduling, and resource allocation
- Mentor and develop junior survey staff and technicians
- Establish and maintain department standards, procedures, and QA/QC practices
- Provide responsible charge and signing/sealing of survey deliverables
- Oversee preparation and review of boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction, and as-built surveys
- Ensure compliance with Pennsylvania standards and client requirements
- Coordinate with engineering and environmental teams on multidisciplinary projects
- Support PennDOT and municipal project requirements
- Assist with proposals, scope development, and fee estimates
- Develop and maintain client relationships and identify growth opportunities
Requirements
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Pennsylvania (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred)
- Minimum 8+ years of progressive surveying experience, including leadership responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of boundary law and surveying principles
- Familiarity with Pennsylvania survey standards and PennDOT requirements
- Proficiency with survey software (Carlson, Trimble Business Center, Civil 3D)
- Experience with CADD platforms (AutoCAD/Civil 3D; MicroStation a plus)
- Experience with GPS, total stations, and data collectors
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing survey teams and multiple concurrent projects
- Familiarity with transportation and infrastructure projects
- Existing relationships with PennDOT, municipalities, or regional clients
